MONO a.k.a Ndroid (or being recognized as Shahir Bakri to his family ) is a Malaysian born citizen that loves and always has a strong passion towards music. This ‘House - Indie Dance – Experimental - Techno’ DJ that was also announced as the 1st Runner Up of Malaysian JUICE DJ Quest 2008 has been DJ’ing since 2005 and the passion was actually developed after he started listening to dance music and attended many rave events.
Started as a ‘self taught’ bedroom DJ, MONO got a lot of support from friends who booked him to play at numerous private parties and functions around the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Through their, and to other local and international DJ’s recommendations to venues, MONO has been able to build a network over these past few years.
2007 was the year when he decided to become a full time professional DJ / producer under the alias Ndroid and was so lucky to be given the responsibility to manage a successful weekly theme night event called ‘Twisted Tuesday’ at Loft Upstairs with his ‘Double Trouble’ duo, Nazkimo. Since then, he was spotted to be playing at major clubs in Kuala Lumpur such as Zouk, Maison, Bed Supper Club, Quattro and Blanc Le Club.
His talent was also been recognized by clubs in Northern Malaysia and he has seen to be rocking the dance floor of Sincero Riverbank, Y2K (Ipoh), GLO @ The Garage & Mambo (Penang).
Always known for his best selections and creative blend of jackin’ fidget house, electro clash, electro to techno selections, a unique crossover style of mixing and unique energy that drives the dance floor at all time, he was then invited to play at Twisted Republic in Bangkok, Thailand on October 2008 and making it as his first international appearance.
Along the way, he has seen to be playing for outdoor and indoor rave events such as UVNation Feat Benny Benassi (ITA) and Scot Project (GER) , SCREAM Helloween Eve Outdoor Party at Sunway Lagoon and Malaysian Surf Competition by Quicksilver at Cherating, Pahang, Winter Music Conference (WMC) in Kuala Lumpur, Turn It Up! At 88.9 fm Club Series alongside DJ Joey G & Gabriel, Magazine at Mist Club alongside Mr.Fluff, and latest was during the New Years Eve 2010 alongside Pelle Grosso (SWE) and OdyDozz. Besides that he was also spotted to be playing with the resident DJ of Euphoria MOS of London Victor G , Nutek (UK) and Gregoire Pagnoux (FRA) during the days of his glamorous Twisted Tuesday.
On May 2008 he was also given the opportunity to do the warm up set for G.L.OV.E.S (AU) for his South East Asia Tour at Maison, Kuala Lumpur alongside fellow friend Nazkimo.
Last year 2009, he has moved a notch when the alias Ndroid was seen on the digital download store BEATPORT.COM when he released a track called ‘Indian Flute’ with another DJ/producer friend under the label AMBASADDA and the track has been supported by big names such as Dave Floyd and Jesse Voorn.
Under the alias Ndroid, sees him to be nominated as the ‘Best New DJ 2008’ for the CHOONS AWARDS which was the first Malaysian Dance Music Awards ever held last year 2009.
He also has mixes that was played by the local and international radio station such as Turn It Up! With DJ Joey G & Gabriel at 88.9 fm and Jesse Voorn Radio Station (NED).
At current, besides being a free lance DJ Tutor, MONO is spending much time in making new music in the studio where he teaches. At this point, it’s no surprise when anybody takes great notice of this young artist’s ability as a producer as well as DJ.
After the successful year 2008, 2009 and 2010, MONO is looking up for an even bigger next one that will hopefully bring more events locally and internationally, massive new tunes and remixes and also plans to release an Electronic Dance Music album
